Style & Grooming Guide 2017

Hairstyles

The pompadour will have another strong year in 2017 but the catwalk and celebrity trends are signalling the return of buzz cuts and long hair.

Beard Styles

Beards are still as popular as ever but moving  more towards groomed and well kept. Beard oil is key in taming an unruly beard. The balboa and short beards are easy to maintain whereas the faded beard requires more maintenance but compliments a fade haircut extremely well.

Shaving

Pre-shave oil -Apply this oil before shaving cream to reduce irritation.

Shaving brush – This will create a superior lather and exfoliate your skin.

Safety razor – Ditch the disposable and get a closer shave with a safety razor.

Skin Care

Exfoliate – Exfoliate twice a week to remove dead skin cells that clog your pores.

Moisturize – Keep your skin healthy, energized and hydrated by moisturizing daily.

Eye pads – Try under eye gel pads to reduce swollen morning eyes and dark circles.

Sunscreen – Sunscreen isn’t just for vacation. Protect yourself from harmful UV rays.

The Perfect Suit

Color – Suit color comes down to two choices; grey and navy. The latter is far more versatile.

Buttons – Play it safe and opt for a two-buttoned blazer that can be both smart and casual.

Lapels – Wide lapels are in but only work if you have a broad stature. Anything over 3” will work.

Cuffs – How much of your cuff should show? Experts differ but ¼” to ½” will add that special touch.

Ties

Although there are many creative ways to wear a tie, there are three knots every man should perfect for every occasion.

Four-in-hand – Casual events

Half Windsor – Business meetings

Full Windsor – Formal events

Shoe Game

While some men opt for a shoe collection, only three are essential for a capsule wardrobe.

Casual sneaker – For those dress down days a casual sneaker such as Converse All Stars will never go amiss.

Brown boots – Brown boots are incredibly versatile. Leather is a safe bet but suede Chelsea boots are great for summer.

Black dress shoe – The mighty Oxford will put you in good stead as a dress shoe for suit days and formal occasions.

Wardrobe Essentials

Cedar wood hangers – Cedar is excellent at absorbing water and repelling moths. Use the correct sized width to avoid stretching or drooping the shoulders.

Shoe trees – These will maintain the shape of your shoes, particularly during travel and will prevent them from cracking.

Shoe polishing kit – It’s not just about having clean shoes. Shoes need a good polish to remain healthy and conditioned.
